One of the benefits to having a higher-than-normal-risk pregnancy is the frequent ultrasounds that give you lots and lots of chances to see and check up on your growing baby. With Bella, we had no idea that I had any disorders, so we didn't have our first ultrasound till I was 20 weeks or so, but this time around we got our first ultrasound at 8 weeks. We were able to see the baby right away, and they picked up a heart rate of 176 which was very good. Junebaby measured a few days ahead of what we knew to be the gestational age, so that was a relief as well to know that it's growing rapidly despite my current aversion to most foods. You moms who have had miscarriage scares in any of your pregnancies can relate to the incredible sense of blessing and relief when you hear your little one's heartbeat for the first time, telling you that everything is okay for now.
