Checkups

The girls went in for their well baby/child visits today. Bella has some strange aversion to the scale that I can't quite figure out. Both girls are doing well though and they were both little troopers for their shots. Bella is now in the 60th percentile for height and 10th for weight while Eva is in the 30th for height and 40th for weight (though Eva's head remains in the 95th percentile for circumference! What a noggin!). I'm a little surprised that Eva is now below average for both height and weight, considering that she's in a lot of 12-18 month clothes already. Maybe it's the increased activity (she's days away from crawling...) or the fewer feedings due to sleeping through the night (yay!).

Bella's favorite food is now corn dogs (yes, I have a box in my freezer...) and Eva's is pears. Bella can take up to 3 hours to finish a meal, so when we find something that she will consume quickly we tend to stock up. Corn dogs may not be the most healthy thing in the world, but hey, she'll eat them cheerfully and they'll put a little extra meat on her bones, so we go with it. Eva won't eat anything pureed, but we bought one of these a few weeks ago and she will devour the slices of pear that we put in there for her. The only drawback to not enjoying the pureed foods is that it's hard to establish week by week that she's not allergic to things - it's generally advised now that parents introduce one new food a week so that if a reaction occurs you'll know which food it most likely is. Since she likes to eat whatever is on our plate though (and our food isn't usually separated out ingredient by ingredient!) we kind of end up introducing her to lots of stuff at once and pray that everything is good to go. So far she's doing great, so tonight she'll eat risotto with the rest of us!
