Trudging along...

So here's a little update on us. We are, as I mentioned previously, settled in back down here in Moscow. We love this, and whenever we go visit Spokane I have a kind of smirky attitude that says something like, "Ha ha, I escaped when you weren't looking and I'm betting you can't catch me again!" Unfortunately, Spokane has managed to capture my husband because that's where he is for a month doing his surgical clerkship. He gets to come home on the weekends (most of them), and we go to visit him in the middle of the week, but we really don't enjoy being without Daddy. The girls get cranky and whiny, I get cranky and whiny, and it's not a pretty picture. But we trudge along, knowing that the end is in sight and it's all for a good reason. Fortunately, we have a lot of wonderful friends and family down here who have been gracious and hospitable to us and provided wonderful playdates and meals to keep us busy in Andrew's absence. I have, in fact, stayed so busy that I haven't even had a chance to watch the season premiere of Bones, which happens to be my favorite TV show. This is a good thing, and I am happy to have all of the distractions.

For those of you who wanted to know what's going on with Andrew, I'd like to point out his new blog over there in the side bar titled "Primum Non Nocere", where he talks about all the fun stuff he's doing (HIPAA compliant, of course). If you'd prefer the short version, I can tell you that he got thrown into the deep end and is managing to keep his head above water quite well. He's assisted in something like 20+ surgeries so far (probably more...), seen upwards of 50 patients, and has just done an overall amazing job for someone in his first two weeks to ever be in the operating room. We are very proud of him, and that pride makes the long weeks a little easier to handle. After this month he goes to Lewiston to do his Internal Medicine clerkship, then an ER clerkship in Lewiston as well. Then it's Christmas break followed by Orthopedic Surgery here in Moscow/Pullman, then Behavioral Medicine up in Cheney, and then his Inpatient clerkship in a yet-to-be-determined location, and then his 4 month preceptorship which will probably be down in Lapwai. The weeks are long, but I know that next August will be here before we know it and the girls and I will be all dressed up taking pictures with our newly graduated PA in his master's robes.
